Junior R&D Engineer – Microfluidics

Key Roles & Responsibilities
Product Development
- Design and develop microfluidic chips and cartridges for diagnostic devices
- Perform CAD modeling and optimize designs for manufacturability
- Work on fluid behavior at microscale including laminar and capillary flow
- Select appropriate materials for microfluidic fabrication such as polymers and glass
Experimental Validation
- Conduct experiments to evaluate microfluidic performance
- Measure parameters such as flow rate, pressure drop, and leakage
- Identify and troubleshoot issues through root cause analysis
- Refine designs based on testing outcomes
Prototyping & Fabrication
- Participate in fabrication of microfluidic prototypes
- Use techniques such as soft lithography, micro-milling, or laser-based fabrication
- Support rapid prototyping workflows including 3D printing
- Assist in scaling prototypes for pilot production
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with biology and chemistry teams for assay integration
- Collaborate with electronics and manufacturing teams during development
- Support transfer of prototypes to small-scale production
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain design and development records
- Prepare technical reports and validation documentation
- Follow medical device quality standards such as ISO 13485
- Assist in verification and validation activities

Eligibility Criteria
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Biomedical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Biotechnology or Microfluidics-related fields
Experience
- 0–3 years of relevant R&D or academic experience
- Fresh graduates with strong project work in microfluidics may apply
- Prior experience in medical device or diagnostics development is advantageous
Skills Required
- Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics and transport phenomena
- Hands-on experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or similar
- Familiarity with laboratory testing setups and instrumentation
