Key Roles & Responsibilities
As a Research Associate in API Synthesis, the selected candidate will play a critical role in laboratory-based research and development. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Research Associate API Synthesis Jobs
- Performing comprehensive literature searches and feasibility studies for API synthetic routes using scientific databases such as SciFinder, Reaxys, and other chemistry resources
- Proposing, evaluating, and executing synthetic strategies for new and existing APIs
- Leading process development activities, including laboratory synthesis, route optimization, and process troubleshooting
- Identifying innovative, scalable, and cost-effective synthetic routes while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance
- Conducting lab-scale reactions, optimization experiments, and reaction monitoring with focus on yield, purity, robustness, and reproducibility
- Supporting scale-up activities by generating reliable process data and transferring knowledge to manufacturing teams
- Performing impurity profiling, impurity identification, and synthesis of reference impurities when required
- Collaborating with analytical teams to interpret data and resolve process-related challenges
- Maintaining strict adherence to cGLP standards, laboratory safety practices, and documentation requirements
- Preparing experimental records, development reports, and technical summaries to support project milestones
- Actively contributing to continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing within the R&D team

Eligibility Criteria
Education
- M.Sc. in Chemistry
- Preference will be given to candidates with specialization in Organic Chemistry
Experience
- Minimum 5 years and up to 7 years of relevant experience
- Mandatory hands-on exposure to API synthesis and process development in pharmaceutical R&D environments
- Experience supporting regulated markets is a strong advantage
Skills Required
- Strong command of synthetic organic chemistry and reaction mechanisms
- Proven experience in route scouting, process optimization, and scale-up support
- Ability to design, execute, and interpret laboratory experiments independently
- Familiarity with analytical data interpretation for troubleshooting and optimization
- Knowledge of cGLP, lab safety, and pharmaceutical documentation practices
- Strong problem-solving mindset and scientific reasoning skills
